Microsoft .NET Framework

We recommend that Internet Information Service (IIS) is installed BEFORE Framework is installed. The Skyline website needs the Microsoft .NET Framework to be installed on the web server, but it is not required for Skyline users.

To install on to a Windows 2008 r2 server:

1.Open the download center on the Microsoft website & locate the Microsoft .NET Framework 4 (Web Installer) download. The software can be downloaded for free from
2.Follow the instructions to download the program onto your Skyline server.


If you are using a windowed 2012 server the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 should already be installed. You will need to install the .NET Framework 3.5 Features.

To Install 3.5 on to a Windows Server 2012:

1.Open Server Manager.
2.The Server Manager dashboard is displayed.
1.Select Add roles and features.
3.The Add Roles & Features Wizard starts.
1.Select Installation Type.
2.Select Role based or feature based installation.
3.Click Next.
4.The Select Destination server window opens.
1.Check that the correct server is selected.
2.Click Next to continue.
5.The Select Features window opens.
1.Select .NET Framework 3.5 Features.
2.Click Next to continue.
6.The Confirmation Installation Selection window opens.
If there is a warning message near the top of the window you will need to use the original disks and specify the files location.
The Specify Alternative Source Path window opens when you click the link Specify an alternative source path.

3.Click OK to continue.
7.In the Confirmation Installation Selection window, click Install to start the installation. 3.5 will be installed. The installation progress is displayed on the screen. When installation has been completed click Close.
